Welcome to Year 5 2025-2026!

Year 5 Homework

Your child will be given weekly spelling homework. They will have a weekly talk homework to complete with you, this will support their weekly 'Write to the top' independent writing lesson. In Year 5, children will also bring home CGP books to complete Maths and Grammar homework, this will be set by the Teacher. You will recieve a school Ping with the page numbers and the children will also record these each week. At St George's Primary school, children read at home five times a week and in Year 5 we kindly ask that you sign your child's reading diary to show that they have met this.

Reading in Year 5

The expectation is that you read with

your child a minimum of 5 times each week and

record this into their reading records. Each week

we will count the number of ‘Home Reads’

recorded in your child’s reading record.

The children must have their reading records and

books in school every day ready to read to an

adult. The children take part in a reading session

every day where they will either be reading

independently, in a group or 1:1 with an adult.
